Home and Contest

Picture Postcard Press is an imprint of Briery Creek Press.

On the regular, we take prose and poetry, commission an artist to create a complementary piece, and then blend the two on the front of a 5-1/2” by 8-1/2” card.  Yes, it’s a postcard.  Yes, it’s literature.   Yes, it’s fine art.  So mail it, read it, or hang it up.

We blog about the stuff we love.  Please check here to read features about art and writing that moves us.  We’re interested in how art and writing speak to each other, how they fuel one another, how they inspire our very own work.  Think of it as the stimulating, passionate conversation you’ve been looking for.

We feature a contest three times a year, searching for writing that best compliments a work of art we post.  Use this art as a prompt for new work; don’t feel obliged to be literal.  If the art evokes a response, send us your best work.

OUR FIRST CONTEST

Rules:  Please send us your response to the following artwork.  Flash fiction and micro memoir submissions limited to 300 words or less.  Poems 20 lines or less.  One submission per contest period.  Simultaneous submissions welcome, but please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.  Contest deadline April 15, 2010. Please include your submission in the body of an email to picturepostcardpress@gmail.com with the subject line “Contest Submission.”  Let the inspiration begin!
